Civic Theatre Cabaret & Concert Series Beginning August 4

Allentown, PA— Civic Theatre of Allentown is kicking off its 90th Anniversary Season with a Cabaret & Concert Series starting August 4.

Kate Pistone: Off-Off-Off-Off-Broadway will take place on Friday, August 4 and Saturday, August 5 at 7:30 pm.  Her cabaret tells the story of a woman’s love affair with New York City.  Hear it unfold through incredible music that never made it to Broadway.  “I was particularly interested in finding music that never made it to Broadway,” Kate said.  “I discovered so much wonderful music along the way! I feel like most of this music chose me. Rather than coming up with a theme and finding numbers to fit the bill, I found more music than I could use and carved out my story.” Learn through song Kate’s relationship with New York City: why she chose to go, what happened during her 12 years there, and why she ultimately moved back to her hometown. “There is a lot of sadness and struggle involved in this story, but there is also a lot of humor and hope. I was able to find a balance of different styles that touched many of the emotional colors in my journey. It’s a piece that I’m very proud of for so many reasons”

Tracy Ceschin: What’s Going On will take place on Friday, August 11 and Saturday, August 12 at 7:30 pm.  Her cabaret will be filled with old favorites and signature songs from some of her favorite shows.  Tracy has appeared in several Civic Theatre productions, including Carrie: The Musical, Gypsy, Titanic, Godspell and The Full Monty.  “I am excited to share music that means something to me personally,” Tracy said.  “Each song in my cabaret holds a special spot in my heart.  This show spans a wide range of music and allows me to highlight different types of music that I don’t always get to perform.”

A Broadway Cavalcade will bring a cast of more than twenty performers together to recreate moments from musicals Civic has done and hopes to do in the future.  Hear songs from musicals you may have seen at Civic Theatre including songs from Annie, Les Misérables, Rent, Jesus Christ Superstar, Cabaret and Gypsy.  Get excited as you hear songs from musicals that Civic Theatre hopes to produce in the future including songs from Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Chicago, Anything Goes, Mame and Once.

Civic Theatre continues its 90th Anniversary Season with its mainstage productions starting with The Secret Garden in October.  The holiday season will showcase Civic’s 28th production of A Christmas Carol and 2nd production of The Santaland Diaries.  2018 will showcase Rock of Ages in February and Prelude to a Kiss in May.  Tickets for Civic’s Cabaret & Concert Series are now on sale.  Tickets for Civic’s 90th Anniversary Season of live theatre will go on sale on Tuesday, August 15. www.civictheatre.com
