Meet Bronx: Adopt Bronx and give him a Christmas Miracle | by  Janel Spiegel

Interview By: Janel Spiegel

***UPDATE*** Bronx has found his forever home!!!

It is not the movie but Bronx sure has his tale to tell. Social media has a way of bringing the stories out. I was on Facebook and noticed a friend had shared a post from The Center for Animal Health & Welfare. It is about a dog named Bronx. Bronx has been in the shelter for quite some time and he is looking for a loving family and a forever home. The post prompted me to call The Center for Animal Health & Welfare and I was able to speak with the Executive Director Kelly who took some time to talk with about Bronx. I told her that I saw the post and I had seen the post about Bronx quite a while ago so this boy has been in the shelter for a long time. Kelly took time to answer a few questions and you can find all the details on how to adopt Bronx. Give him a Christmas miracle.

Interview with Kelly Bauer – Executive Director of the Center for Animal Health and Welfare

How long has Bronx been in the shelter?

Kelly- Bronx originally came to the shelter in March of 2016.  He was adopted 2 months later.  Sadly, he was returned 11 months ago when his owner fell ill.

What kind of forever family do you feel would be good for Bronx?

Kelly- Bronx should go to a pet free family.  Although he is almost 8 years old, he would love a companion to go walking with.  He would do best in a quiet home.

What would you tell someone who is planning on adopting a dog?

Kelly- Please give them time to get adjust.  Many of our dogs, including Bronx, have been living in a kennel with lots of other dogs for quite some time.  They are not used to living in a home and need time to build a relationship with their new family.  Please be patient and give them the time, love and space they need to learn they are finally getting a forever home.

What you would you like everyone to know about Bronx?

Kelly- Bronx is incredibly smart and knows basic commands.  He loves treats and takes them very nicely.  Bronx walks well on a leash.

Please tell everyone how to go about coming in to adopt Bronx?

Kelly- The shelter opens at 12pm each day for adoptions.  We close at 4pm, except for Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday when we close at 6pm.  When you arrive, please let a staff member know that you would like to meet Bronx.  They will bring him out of his kennel to spend time with you.  If you would like an extended visit time, we recommend calling the shelter ahead of time at 610-252-7722 ext. 6 and make an appointment.

Thank you so much for talking with me. I want to help Bronx get a forever home.

This is the post about Bronx that was on Facebook…

“UPDATE: WITH OVER 1000 SHARES AND 80,000 VIEWS, BRONX HAS NOT HAD A SINGLE APPLICATION. PLEASE CONTINUE TO SHARE SO WE CAN GET BRONX A HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS.
As Bronx sleeps peacefully in his kennel, we can’t help but to wonder what his dreams look like. Is he curled up alongside his mom, as her loving hand strokes his head? Does dad yell from the kitchen that it’s time to eat, putting his favorite food in the bowl that was picked out just for him? Does he jump up when he hears the sound of his leash as his brother puts on his coat, ready for their evening walk? Unfortunately for Bronx, that dream is out of reach. The reality is that Bronx is an 8 year old, American Bulldog, who must be an only dog. For him, that means there is a good chance that those dreams will never come true. He will most likely die, never knowing what a forever family is. He will spend his final years calling his 4’x3′ kennel home. For Bronx, the remainder of his life will be spent dreaming of the day when his luck changes, but the painful truth is that it is only a dream. But you, yes you, reading this post. You can be the hero that Bronx dreams about. The one person willing to give an overlooked, older dog a chance at the life he deserves. You could be the reason that Bronx isn’t just a dog that lived and died in a shelter. It is you that could change his life, and yours, in ways that you couldn’t have imagined. Choose love. Choose Bronx.
