PBS39 Announces the Addition of Three Channels

France24, MHz Worldview, and WORLD Join LVPT Corporation Lineup

Bethlehem, Pa. — January 9, 2018 — Lehigh Valley Public Telecommunications Corporation (LVPTC), parent company of WLVT-PBS39, announced today that it will broadcast three additional channels: France 24, MHz Worldview, and WORLD. LVPTC recently acquired the public television station license of WYBE from parent company Independence Public Media. As a result of a channel sharing arrangement, MHz Worldview and WORLD will appear on channels 35.1 and 35.2, respectively, as part of LVPTC’s lineup. The agreement also includes France 24, a twenty-four-hour international news network, under the umbrella of PBS39 on channel 39.3.

PBS39 has a 50 year history of delivering quality public television to the region. In 2006, the public media company added Create TV to enhance its offerings with public television’s top shows in cooking, travel, home improvement, gardening and arts & crafts. With the addition of new broadcast channels, the station will expand the dimension and diversity of its programming to the Greater Lehigh Valley and beyond.

“It’s such an exciting time at PBS39, and we are proud to welcome these three channels to our lineup,” says Tim Fallon, Chief Executive Officer of PBS39. “The additions help fulfill a strategic goal; to provide access and compelling content to the majority of the Lehigh Valley.”

France 24 offers 24/7 international news programming, while MHz Worldview serves as a liaison for programs from around the world to American audiences. Rounding out the lineup, WORLD channel showcases the best in international documentaries from around the globe. While PBS39 is broadcast in high definition, Create TV, France 24, MHz Worldview, and WORLD are delivered in digital-quality standard definition.

“We understand the importance of public media in the lives of our members and viewers,” says Yoni Greenbaum, Chief Content Officer of PBS39. “By delivering an expanded variety of content across multiple platforms, we will engage a wider and more diverse audience.”
