Bethlehem, PA: To promote customers to get out the vote this midterm election, local specialty coffee roaster Monocacy Coffee Co. is offering one free 12 oz. coffee to any customers who have voted or will commit to vote on Election Day, November 6th, 2018 at either of the company’s two retail locations; Bethlehem’s Lit Coffee Roastery and Bakeshop (26 E 3rd St., Bethlehem PA 18015) and Easton’s Cosmic Cup (520 March St., Easton PA 18042).

Customers can either present baristas with their official “I Voted” sticker from the polls, or sign a pledge to vote at the counter.

Monocacy Coffee Co., was established in 2015 and has grown from a basement hobby shared by owners Matthew Hengeveld and Daniel Taylor, to being a Lehigh Valley-wide presence, with two retail locations, and over thirty wholesale buyers of their coffee throughout the Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton region. Clients include Molinaris, Jumbars, Coffee House Without Limits, Greenmouth Juice Bar, Bonn Place Brewing Company and more.

“Small businesses like ours owe a lot to the community people … offering incentive this way is a great way to thank them and have their voices heard,” states owner Daniel Taylor.

“In today’s fractured political landscape we lose sight that we’re all neighbors,” says owner Matthew Hengeveld, “we need to focus on issues that pull together, not draw apart. Especially in coffee shops, which are a home-away-from-home for so many people of different views and positions… [For example] Who doesn’t want to see a solution to the opioid epidemic? It’s something that impacts everybody, we see it in our parks, our schools and our homes … we can all help one another reach toward a solution by listening and engaging each other again. But the first step is to vote and elect officials who’ll represent and listen.”
