With summer camps being canceled throughout the region, PBS39 creates an alternative, broadcast-focused solution.

Bethlehem, PA. -June 8, 2020PBS39 is bringing all the best parts of camp to your home this summer. It’s Camp! is a daily 30-minute program live from Valley Youth House’s Camp Fowler, which is designed to offer summer camp and quality education with a focus on STEM, STEAM arts, literacy, nutrition, leadership and nature.

The program will feature some of the Greater Lehigh Valley’s top educational organizations including Valley Youth House, DaVinci Science Center, The National Museum of Industrial History, Wildlands Conservancy, ArtsQuest, The Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of the USA, Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 and the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21.

The show will air weekdays at 11:30 a.m. on PBS39 and run through August. As the school year comes to a close and parents and caregivers look for new ways to engage their children throughout the summer, It’s Camp! is the perfect virtual experience, accessible to school aged children 9-14 across the Greater Lehigh Valley valley.

“We think this is an exciting prospect and a great service to provide to both the Lehigh Valley and across the state,” said Yoni Greenbaum, Chief Content Officer, Lehigh Valley Public Media.

Through It’s Camp! children will have the opportunity to virtually participate in bike rides, fish in the pond, grow and cook their own vegetables and even enjoy a campfire! Supplies required for this instructional program will be listed online so families can easily gather materials from around the house to participate.

It’s Camp will premiere on June 15 at 11:30 a.m. on PBS39 and will be live streamed on PBS39.org and on PBS39’s Facebook page. Check your local listings to find PBS39/WLVT on your cable or satellite provider.
