Lamont McClure and Director of Corrections James Kostura announce tentative plans to begin reopening the Northampton County Prison (NCP) work release program at the main jail on Wednesday, July 7, 2021. The facility at West Easton, traditionally used for inmates in the work release program, will not be opening at this time. Only inmates who are fully vaccinated will be considered for participation in the program.

NCP plans to restart services including Linking Employment Activities Pre-release or the LEAP program, the Pine Brook Family Answers program and the Mid-Atlantic Rehabilitation services program on July 6th.

Extended furloughs were issued to non-violent offenders in 2020 during the pandemic. Furloughed inmates are scheduled to return to NCP on July 19, 20 and 21.

These plans are contingent on COVID-19 case levels remaining low within the facility.
