KidsPeace’s Healing Magazine Focuses on Therapeutic Value of Storytelling

SCHNECKSVILLE, PA (November 19, 2021) – KidsPeace has published the latest issue of its flagship publication Healing Magazine – with a focus on the therapeutic value of telling stories.

In its Fall/Winter 2021 edition, the magazine’s Spotlight section includes perspectives on why storytelling is such a powerful tool for addressing the mental wellness needs of kids:

  • Two therapists explain how they incorporate journal-writing into their work with children, and offer tips on making the experience fun and
  • A foster care professional discusses how a “Lifebook” captures the history of kids in care to help them remember and understand their journey when they’re
  • A filmmaker and a therapist detail their venture to bring the power of the medium of film to treatment of survivors of commercial sexual exploitation, while a professional storyteller uses her talent to relay how her experience with a behavioral disorder influenced her career choice.

The latest Healing Magazine issue also features an article that discusses an approach that’s being called “CPR for suicide prevention,” as well as an examination of an innovative program that is bringing the concept of “urgent care” to issues of mental and behavioral health. And two teachers answer the question, “How are kids doing as they return to in-person learning, after the changes in education prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic?”

Healing Magazine is published twice a year, and features articles for children’s professionals, parents, educators and others who are interested in helping children grow, thrive and succeed.
