12-week virtual program provides information while addressing the needs of grandparents who are raising their grandchildren.
Lehigh Valley, PA – February 25, 2022, Pinebrook Family Answers (PbFA) popular Grandparents Group support program begins on March 4th at 1pm. Open to the community, the virtual 12-week program provides support and resources for grandparents, non-custodial caregivers and guardians who are raising children. Topics include: understanding the new role both challenges and rewards; understanding the legal system in reference to caring for grandchildren; promoting personal well-being, self-care, and understanding emotions; refining parenting skills, understanding child-developmental stages and positive discipline; building relationships through effective communication skills, intrapersonal connections, and conflict resolution; working with school and community – how to navigate the school systems and accessing community resources; and money management. In addition to the educational information provided, the goal of the group is to provide opportunities for members to connect with each other, lessen feelings of isolation and create community that can extend beyond our group setting.
