HARRISBURG – Acting on a constituent inquiry, Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-Lehigh) worked with state regulators and Amazon Pharmacy to ensure Pennsylvania consumers are eligible for the company’s new pharmacy service, which provides certain generic medications at a reduced cost.

“Many Pennsylvania residents are struggling to pay for their prescriptions. As state legislators, our options for providing them with some relief are limited,” said Mackenzie, “In this case, I was able to step in and help provide a new option for consumers in Pennsylvania to make some medications more affordable.”

Earlier this year, Amazon Pharmacy launched RxPass, a new Prime membership benefit that offers patients affordable access to frequently prescribed generic medications that treat more than 80 common health conditions. According to the company, RxPass allows Prime members to receive all their eligible medications for one flat, low monthly fee of $5, and have them delivered free of charge.

Mackenzie was recently contacted by a constituent who wondered why Pennsylvania residents were unable to enroll in RxPass. Mackenzie looked into the matter and learned there were two conflicting state regulations preventing it from happening. Through his assistance, Amazon Pharmacy was able to work with the Pennsylvania Department of Health to resolve the issue and make the RxPass available to Prime members in the Commonwealth.

“We are excited to share RxPass with Prime members in Pennsylvania to provide one more way that patients can save money on their prescription medications with Amazon Pharmacy,” said Vin Gupta, Amazon Pharmacy medical director. “Now, with RxPass, customers will be able to tap into simple and transparent pricing on the medications they need.”

“My office works hard to be as responsive as we can to constituent inquiries. I am pleased were able to reach a resolution in this instance, which can benefit consumers statewide,” noted Mackenzie.

RxPass is now available in 44 states. To learn more about RxPass, visit https://pharmacy.amazon.com/rxpass.
