PBS39 partnered with Parkland Community Library for the Arthur Celebration & Marc Brown Book Signing at Springhouse Middle School.
Bethlehem, Pa. — November 21, 2017 — On Saturday, November 18, the community came together for a very special event to promote literacy in families. PBS39 partnered up with Parkland Community Library to host the Arthur Celebration and Marc Brown Book Signing at Springhouse Middle School. The free event allowed families the opportunity to meet Arthur, the lovable PBS KIDS’ Character and the award-winning author and illustrator behind it all, Marc Brown.
“What a fabulous event,” said Susan Hanlon, who attended with her family. “So well organized and a wonderful opportunity to meet a classic children’s author and illustrator.”
Over 500 attendees were engaged as Marc spoke about and signed his classic Arthur books! Brown explained how Arthur first came to be and how the beloved aardvark first appeared on PBS and has been a favorite with young readers for over 40 years.
Children spent the afternoon coloring their Arthur themed arts and crafts, provided by PBS39, and posing for a picture with not only Arthur, but PBS39’s very own TeleBear. The afternoon didn’t conclude until each and every book had been signed.
“Thank you, everyone, for coming to celebrate literacy in our community,” said a representative from Parkland Community Library.
