Superstar Comedian Jim Gaffigan Headlines Musikfest Aug. 5



 

BETHLEHEM, PA— Jim Gaffigan, the king of family-friendly comedy, will deliver a belly full of laughs at Musikfest when he performs at the Sands Steel Stage Sun., Aug. 5, 8:30 p.m. Tickets for the performance are $44-$69 and go on sale starting Tues., April 17, 10 a.m., to ArtsQuest Members and Fri., April 20, 10 a.m., to the public at www.musikfest.org and 610-332-3378.

One of the world’s highest grossing stand-up comedians, Gaffigan is a GRAMMY nominated writer, actor, producer, author, top touring performer and multi-platinum-selling father of five. The creator and star of “The Jim Gaffigan Show,” he’s also guest starred on many television comedies and dramas, ranging from “Portlandia” and “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” to HBO’s cult hits “Flight of the Concords” and “Bored to Death” and dramatic roles in “Law & Order.”  On the silver screen, his credits include “Three Kings,” “Hot Pursuit,” “Super Troopers” and “17 Again,” among many others.

With more than 25 years in the industry, Gaffigan’s remarkable career has been highlighted by writing the The New York Times Bestsellers “Dad Is Fat” and “Food: A Love Story;” performing for Pope Francis and over one million festival attendees at the 2014 Festival of Families in Philadelphia; and being one of only 10 comics in history to sell out Madison Square Garden.

Gaffigan’s fifth one-hour stand-up special, “Cinco,” premiered in January on Netflix. His upcoming films include “Chappaquiddick, “You Can Choose Your Family “and “Drunk Parents,” as well as “Super Troopers 2.”

The Jim Gaffigan performance, supported by media partner B104, is the second-ever headlining comedy show at Musikfest following legendary comedian Jerry Seinfeld’s appearance in 2015. Other 2018 Sands Steel Stage headliners announced so far include Trombone Shorty’s Voodoo Threauxdown Tour on Musikfest Preview Night Aug. 2, STYX and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts Aug. 3, Brantley Gilbert Aug. 10 and Jason Mraz Aug. 12.

One of the largest music festivals in the nation, Musikfest features more than 500 performances on 16 stages throughout Bethlehem over 10 days. Proceeds from Musikfest 2018 will support ArtsQuest’s free concerts and programming for the community year-round at the Banana Factory arts center and the SteelStacks arts and cultural campus. Dates for the 35th edition of the festival are Aug. 3-12.
