GERMANSVILLE, PA – Kevin Dellicker, Republican candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in PA’s 7th Congressional District, challenged Lisa Scheller, the other declared Republican candidate in the race, to a series of at least six debates leading up to the primary election.

“The people of Pennsylvania’s 7th District have a choice in the Republican primary,” said Dellicker. “They deserve to hear from the candidates early and often, in-person and online.”

Dellicker proposed the following framework, with dates and locations to be determined by mutual agreement with the Scheller campaign:

  • At least one debate in Lehigh County
  • At least one debate in Northampton County
  • At least one debate in Monroe, Carbon or Berks counties, depending on the final boundaries of the new congressional district. If multiple counties are included, additional debates should be added such that each county has one debate.
  •  At least one debate online

Dellicker called for the debates occur March through early May, pending the finalization of the new congressional maps. He proposed that at least three should be televised: Business Matters (WFMZ-69), Lehigh Valley PBS (WLVT-39), and Blue Ridge Cable TV (BRC13).

Any additional candidates that file petitions to run in the 7th Congressional District are also welcome to participate, Dellicker said.

The Kevin Dellicker for Congress campaign delivered the attached letter to the Scheller for Congress campaign today, requesting a response by February 3rd. An announcement about the first debate, proposed for the week of March 14, is forthcoming, pending the Scheller campaign’s reply.
