Capturing the essence of Philadelphia, Friday night’s Iron Pigs game paid a special tribute to Philadelphia as they renamed themselves as The Lehigh Valley Cheesesteaks. Their uniforms were changed to black, the lettering matched the infamous yellow cheese wiz. Making a special appearance, The Philly Phanatic was on hand who joined a full stadium cheering for The Cheesesteak win over the Durham Bulls 4-0. A fireworks show ended the evening for many elated fans.

It was a slow start for The Cheesesteaks who brought in their first score at the bottom of the fourth inning. Jake Thompson pitched seven shutout innings which prevented the Bulls from hitting the scoreboard with a single run. Darin Ruf and Cam Perkins both had multiple hits attributing to this cheesy victory for the Iron Pigs.
