Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center Announces New Board Chair and Vice Chair; Three New Board Members



 

Patrick Fligge Elected Board Chair, Joshua Shulman, Esq. Elected Board Vice Chair

ALLENTOWN, PA — At the December meeting of the Board of Directors, Patrick Fligge was unanimously elected Chair of the Board, succeeding a successful one-year term as chair by Lizabeth Kay Kleintop, whose service on the Board of Directors was term-limited.  Fligge is Director of Alumni & Parent Engagement at Muhlenberg College. He has previously served as Vice Chair of the Board.  Joshua Shulman, Esq., an attorney at Shulman & Shabbick, who has served on the Board for one year, was unanimously elected to succeed Fligge as Vice Chair. Jason Sizemore was also unanimously re-elected to serve a second term as Secretary of the Board of Directors.

“I was honored to be asked to serve as Board Chair of Bradbury Sullivan LGBT Community Center. I was excited to serve during the past year of year of growth and new challenges, including the production of the 25th annual Lehigh Valley Pride Festival, the growth of our youth programs, and further development of our supportive services.  I am looking forward to the continued growth of the Center under the Board leadership of Patrick Fligge,” said outgoing Board Chair Lizabeth Kay Kleintop, “I have confidence that Patrick’s commitment to the Center and his leadership skills will result in further development of the Center in its mission in new and exciting ways.”

Newly-elected Board Chair, Patrick Fligge, said, “I am grateful for the trust and confidence my fellow Board members have placed in me as the incoming Board chair. Through the hard work of the staff and many volunteers, Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center finds itself in a remarkably strong place considering our relative youth. I look forward to continued advancement of the Center’s mission, finding new and innovative ways to address the needs of the greater Lehigh Valley’s LGBT community.”
 
Joshua Shulman, the newly-elected Vice Chair of the board, added, “Building on the hard work and talent of everyone who dedicated so much to make Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center what it is today, I am excited and humbled to be able to help it continue to grow. The importance of the Center gets greater every day.  Its impact in the community does as well.  Thank you to everyone there, and also to the amazing team that is our board for their confidence in me.  I look forward to working with them and supporting our fantastic new Chair, Patrick Fligge, to the best of my abilities.”

“Liz Kleintop’s leadership as first our Board Treasurer and then our Board Chair has been integral to the growth of our community center. Her wisdom, guidance, and leadership have made an incredible impact on our organization.” said Adrian Shanker, Executive Director. “Patrick and Joshua share a strong passion for our mission and I know our Board is in good hands with the two of them as Chair and Vice Chair.”

In addition to the officer transitions, Board Members Barb Baus and Jerry Schmidt and Board Chair Lizabeth Kay Kleintop have concluded their board terms and three community members were elected to serve on the Board of Directors: Monique McCants, an engineer at Air Products, Mark Stanziola, an attorney at Gardner Law Offices, and Ian Wagner, a support coordinator at Service Access & Management.
