Tuesday night started off with two heavy metal bands that opened for Papa Roach at the Wind Creek Event Center. Bad Wolves, known as a super-group, as these musicians originated from other successful bands, got the crowd warmed up with head-banging guitarists, and lead singer Tommy Vext delivered hardcore driving lyrics.

English rock band, Asking Alexandria, took the stage next. Things got turned up a few notches as their set included more lights and effects. The crowd was often warming up themselves by jumping and fists clenched in the air as they waited for the headliner of the tour, Papa Roach, to take the stage.

After a brief intermission as the stage underwent the changeover, the lights dimmed and Papa Roach took the stage. With driving guitar lines and pounding drums the set opened with their 2019 album title track “Who Do You Trust”. The high energy continued with “Blood Brothers” and “Getting Away With Murder”. Lead singer, Jacoby Shaddix, worked up a sweat as he jumped and ran around the stage and pounded out each word to the songs. Some fans felt the vibes of freedom as they crowd surfed towards the stage.

There was quite a selection from the current album, “Renegade Music”, “Not The Only One”, “Elevate”, “Feel Like Home”, and “Come Around”. The crowd cheered for “Scars”, as Shaddix pointed the mic into the crowd to finish off the last chorus.

Papa Roach returned for a three-song encore, “Last Resort”, a cover of Prodigy’s “Firestarter” and the show closed with “…To Be Loved”. It was a high energy concert from start to finish, and for Papa Roach, who has been performing for well over twenty years has carved out a solid spot in the timeline of rock music as a dynamic full on nu metal, hard rocking band that puts on one heck of a good show.
