PBS39 Debuts ‘Close to Home: Human Trafficking’

This 30 minute documentary will explore the tragic issue of human trafficking in the Lehigh Valley.

Bethlehem, PA – March 27, 2019Close to Home: Human Trafficking, the Survivor Story will debut at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2019. This project is a co-production between PBS39 and Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) with financial support from Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. and Capital BlueCross.

The Emmy award-winning Close to Home series was designed to bring hope to people who are suffering. Previous documentaries, created by PBS39, explored the topics of homelessness, Vietnam veterans and cancer survivorship. In the final installment, PBS39 tackles the tragic issue of human trafficking. This documentary, produced by Dr. Teri Haddad, exposes the problem in our region while empowering recovering survivors by giving them a platform to share their stories.

“Part of the responsibility of PBS39 is to uncover these serious issues affecting our community,” Tim Fallon, Chief Executive Officer of PBS39 said. “The Lehigh Valley is fortunate to have organizations that are committed to combating sex trafficking in our region, but they cannot do it alone. We hope this project inspires citizens to take action and help their neighbors.”

Watch Close to Home: Human Trafficking, the Survivor Story at 6 p.m. before PBS39 News Tonight on Friday, March 29. Check your local listings to find PBS39/WLVT on your cable or satellite provider. The special will also be posted in its entirety on PBS39.org.
